Pioneering Korean Lash Lifts
in New Zealand
Urban Beauty began specialising in Korean lash lifts in 2022, when the technique was already emerging in Korea but was virtually unknown in New Zealand.
We travelled to Korea to learn the technique directly during its early rise and brought it back to Auckland, becoming the first salon in New Zealand to specialise in Korean-style lash lifting.
Since then, we've spent years refining the technique across different lash textures, growth patterns and eye shapes, long before Korean lash lifts became the international beauty trend they are today. Explore the rest of our Lash & Brow menu or browse all services at Urban Beauty.
The Korean Lash Lift Technique
What Is a Korean Lash Lift?
A Korean lash lift is a modern lash lifting technique designed to create a clean, controlled lift from the root while maintaining softness and flexibility through the lengths.
Compared with more traditional lash lifting methods, Korean techniques generally place greater emphasis on:
- Precise root direction
- Even lash separation
- Controlled processing
- Customised shield or rod selection
- Maintaining the condition of the natural lashes
- Creating a soft, balanced finish rather than an overly curled result
| Traditional Lash Lift | Korean Lash Lift |
|---|---|
| Often focuses mainly on curl | Focuses on root lift, direction and balance |
| More standardised rod selection | More customised to eye and lash shape |
| Less emphasis on individual lash placement | Detailed lash separation and placement |
| One technique may be used across clients | Technique adjusted to lash condition and desired finish |

Korean Lash Lift FAQs
What is the difference between a Korean lash lift and a regular lash lift?
Korean lash lifting generally focuses more on precise root direction, detailed lash placement and customised shaping. The technique is adjusted according to your natural lashes and eye shape rather than using one standard curl.
How long does a Korean lash lift last?
Most lash lifts last around 6-8 weeks, depending on your natural lash growth cycle and aftercare.
Will a Korean lash lift damage my lashes?
When performed correctly and with appropriate processing times, a lash lift should not significantly damage healthy lashes. Overprocessing or repeated treatments too close together can weaken the lashes, which is why we assess lash condition before treatment.
Can I choose how curly I want my lashes?
Yes. Your result can be customised from a subtle root lift to a more defined curl depending on your lashes and preferred look.
Is a Korean lash lift suitable for short lashes?
Yes, although the final result depends on your natural lash length, growth direction and eyelid shape. We will recommend the most suitable style during your consultation.
How often can I have a lash lift?
Most clients repeat the treatment around every 6-8 weeks, once the majority of the lashes have completed their growth cycle.
Can I wear mascara after a lash lift?
Yes. Once the initial aftercare period has passed, mascara can be applied normally.
Can I get my lashes wet after the treatment?
Follow the aftercare advice given after your appointment. Some modern Korean systems differ from traditional lash lift products, so aftercare may vary depending on the products used.
